When  they announced that The Lego Movie was going to be created it wasn’t taken seriously, fast forward a year or so on $60 million from the opening week box office, the creators of the film Phil Lord and Chris Miller have had the last laugh. So how has a animated movie about the world’s favourite toy bricks been a critical success? Along with the brand of humour(appealing to all ages) Miller & Lord (Despicable Me movies, 21 Jump Street) have become successfully famous for, The Lego Movie has a fantastic VFX team to thank.

Video series FX Guide have released their latest episode which explore in depth the long process in creating the effects for the film and sometimes we forget sometimes the process is longer when the film is animated. This 32 minute video featurette maybe a little too technical there is some footage incorporated  amongst the lengthy discussions making it worthwhile to check this out and if your a animation student this video will be very informative.

The Lego Movie is in cinemas now.
