Walk This Way Declares ‘This Is War’ For Latest V.O.D Collection

After its third collection, Comedies à la Carte, Walk This Way wants you to compose yourself as it presents its fifth selection of films for 2016. They once again bring a selection films to platforms such as iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Filmin, Flimmit, Univesciné and more. After Men On The Edge, Docs Around The World and Unexpected Love Stories , it’s no laughing matter now as the latest collection This is War,is a selection of spectacular and intense war films set in Paris, Madrid, and Cambodia.

Academy Award winner Régis Wargnier is the director of The Gate, a film based on a true story exploring the genocide perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. Two decades after forging an unlikely alliance in Pol Pot’s Cambodia, a French ethnologist and a former Khmer Rouge official meet again when the latter is arrested for crimes against humanity. This French drama was co-produced by Cambodian filmmaker Rithy Panh, and stars French actor Raphaël Personnaz and multi-award-winning Belgian actor Olivier Gourmet. The film will be available in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Then there’s a German film set in Argentina. My German Friend tells a beautiful love story between Sulamit (Celeste Cid), the daughter of German-Jewish refugees, and Friedrich (Max Riemelt), the son of German- Nazis refugees. As children the pair are close friends, and grow up as time goes by between the fall of Peron’s Government in 1955 and the years of prison, torture and death in Argentina between 1976 and 1984. German filmmaker Jeanine Meerapfel, whose previous films received awards at Berlin, Cannes and San Sebastián, brings us a coming-of-age love story and a lesson in Argentinian History. The film will be available in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Lastly, comes a story set in Madrid after the Spanish Civil War. In The Sleeping Voice, Hortensia (Inma Cuesta) and Pepita (María León) are involved with an underground guerrilla movement. Hortensia is captured and forced to deliver her baby in jail, while Pepita tries to find a way to help her and the guerrillas. Goya award-winning filmmaker Benito Zambrano’s film is a heart-breaking story about love, loss and courage, and León’s outstanding performance won her the Silver Seashell for Best Actress at the 2012 San Sebastián Film Festival. The film will be available in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
