Viggo Mortensen Reteaming With Peter Farrelly For Vietnam Film

Viggo Mortensen is set to re-team with Green Book director Peter Farrelly on a new film, according to Variety.
According to their news story, the Lord Of The Rings star is in negotiations to join the cast. The film is still entitled and will be based on he Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War.
The book, written by Joanna Molloy and John ‘Chickie’ Donohue. This is based on the true story of Donohue, who left New York in 1967 to track down and share a few beers with his childhood buddies in the Army,whilst they were still fighting in Vietnam.
The news story states Mortensen if he signs on, he’ll be in a supporting role. There is no indication what role he’ll play, anything from a commanding officer or a father to Chickie or one of his buddies.

The name of the film sounds like comedy Peter Farrelly would direct with his brother. This doesn’t mean there won’t be comedic parts in this one. The success of Green Book probably pushed the director to try more dramatic roles than gross out comedies.
Will this new film also cover racism which was rife during the war . This could be be a chance for the director to address any of those criticisms he got from Green Book?
Viggo Mortensen himself stepped behind the camera to make his own directorial debut with Falling. The film made it’s premiere at Sundance Film Festival . With Covid-19 still with us it’s hard to say which other festivals it will premiere at or when it will be released
The film tells the story of a gay man who takes care of his homophobic father after he develops dementia. Mortensen reluctantly also stars in it alongside Lance Henriksen. His plan was only to direct but to get the funding he had to be in the cast.
