Legend, Cinema Auteur, iconic these are a few of the thousand of word’s to describe Martin Scorsese or Mr Film as I call him, there’s not many people within film who could tell you inside out the history of cinema like fine hairbrush. The directors has brought us classic films over the decades from Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Goodfellas, more recently Shutter Island and Soon Jo Nesbo’s  The Snowman but who would have believed his next film would be a children’s fantasy?

Tomorrow in UK&Ireland HUGO will be released in the UK, a film that let’s the director share some of his passion for early days of cinema  plus its in 3D a technology which he was against. Mr 3D James Cameron has given the film his seal of approval and actually went as far as saying Hugo has some of the best looking 3D in film which is a compliment of the highest order, but then again we’re talking about a Martin Scorsese film!

Hugo tells the story of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. With the help of an eccentric girl, he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart shaped lock, seemingly without a key.

Tomorrow we are in for a cinematic treat as tonight we’ve learned Hugo has already picked 2011 film of the year which is an achievement for a film which was only released last week in USA, the award coming from American National Board of review (also picking up best director). Over at Totalfilm who this week got a chance to have a chat with the iconic director and below you can watch that interview.
