Twilight Author's Sci-fi Novel to be adapted for Big screen

You have thought Author Stephanie Meyer’s only wrote teen angst vampire stories, well think again. Her book “The Host”  is her first adult book and it’s a science fiction story, heres Publisher’s Weekly Synpohsis:

[Benevolent] planet-hopping parasites are inserting their silvery centipede selves into human brains, curing cancer, eliminating war and turning Earth into paradise. But some people want Earth back, warts and all, especially Melanie Stryder, who refuses to surrender, even after being captured in Chicago and becoming a host for a Soul [as the parasites call themselves] called Wanderer. Melanie uses her surviving brain cells to persuade Wanderer to help search for her loved ones in the Arizona desert. When the pair find Melanie’s brother and her boyfriend in a hidden rebel cell led by her uncle, Wanderer is at first hated. Once the rebels accept Wanderer, whom they dub Wanda, Wanda’s whole perspective on humanity changes. While the straightforward narrative is short on detail about the invasion and its stunning aftermath, it shines with romantic intrigue, especially when a love triangle (or quadrangle?!) develops for Wanda/Melanie.

As Slashfilm said in their report that THE HOST has alot of similarties to The Puppet Masters a 1994 movie starring Donald Sutherland about Parasites that use human as hosts and create human society into something different. An independant group of producers has got write/director Andrew Nicol on board to do this project. The projects producers Nick Wechsler, Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz asked the Twilight creator what her favourite science fiction movies where and she said they were Gattica and Truman Show which are both Nicol movies! After reading the book and meeting Meyers and the producers Andrew Nicol signed on to direct.

I wonder if some of Twilight’s hardcore fanbase may see this as a spin off of their favourite movies or even expecting alot things from Twilight to be in this? Well if your a fan of Stephanie Meyer’s work you will follow no matter what type of film is produced.
