After several years working as a holiday rep in various holiday destinations in the Mediterranean along with a couple of years as a travel agent I think I’ve seen a varied amount of holidaymakers. Could you picture yourself packing the luggage and head off to a disaster zone say Chernobyl?Tourism gone mad! The Paranormal Activity creator steps away from the found footage though the scares are still there as he concentrates on extreme tourism gone bad as the film follows 6 youngsters who head to Belarus to go on a extreme tour of The infamous Chernobyl site. Despite the warnings not to go the group head the town of Pripyat a short time into the tour they find themselves stranded and the fact there not alone!
When you make a film that’s based on a disaster zone which thousands of people died, children suffering long illness you are always going to attract a tone of sensitivity and upset people ironically the people more upset are from USA. Extreme tourism is on the rise but to use it as a base for a horror film I’m a little unsure and will leave my judgement to the films release on June 22nd or this Friday if you live in USA.
Film stars Olivia Dudley, Devin Kelley, Jesse McCartney, Nathan Phillips, and Jonathan Sadowski.
The film follows a group of six young vacationers who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an “extreme” tour guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since thedisaster more than 25 years ago.
After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone…
