Last year when I visited my local bookstore in the need of some reading essentials I thought someone was taking the the piss when I saw Pride and Prejudice and  Zombies but how wrong I was. This was the first book from Author Seth Graham-smith who created a mashup/alternative version of the Jane Austen classic, but it was his second book that has caught the glare of hollywood and that book is Abraham Lincon The Vampire Hunter.

The eye that has caught the most is none other than Tim Burton who got really interested in the book when she found a trailer promoting the book which you can watch below. According to Deadline Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch, Daywatch) whom he worked with on last years 9 animation have dug seep into their own pockets and bought the rights to the book, though there is no studio involved yet on this project. We already know Graham-Smiths Pride and Prejiduce and Zombies is to be made a movie as well with  Lionsgate been the studio to release it and Natalie Portman to play the leading lady.

Tim Burton has been a fan of macbre for a very long time and it was no surprise that he got the chequebook out and bought this baby, with his you could see  the movie playing away in your head as it does have Burton trademark filmstyle all over it.

The book plays on the revelation that Lincoln’s mother was killed by a supernatural creature, which fueled his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. The novel depicts the 16th U.S. president as an axe-throwing, highly trained vampire killer and we’ve seen Abe take on Klingons & green lizards in classic Star Trek so why not Vampires? Like there mythology vampires never die out and this idea has the seal of coolness with it!

here’s that trailer:
