This is FITBA!!! Gerard Butler to SLIDE into Football Youth Coach movie

Before anyone starts screaming at me what’s Fitba and it’s soccer let me explain. Me and Gerard Butler come from Paisley, Scotland and ‘Fitba’ is a Scottish slangterm for Football, as for football though we ma not be great at the sport but here in Scotland (and rest of UK &Ireland) and majority of Football world it’s always been football well before the American’s decided to re-enter the world most popular sport. Off course stateside there American football so its obivious to use football’s other name more commonly used on the American continent (north & south), so I always remember the time an American man tried to teach me why football’s soccerย  as he was an’expert’ though he could only answer questions about Manchester united (typical man utd fan not from manchester!!!).

Apoligies for that as you can see i’m a passionite football fan and there hasn’t been many football/soccer movies in the movieeworld with Bend It Like Beckham and Shaolin Soccer been the two most noteable ones. Maybe it’s just Hollywood isn’t sold on the beautiful game or it’s just the simple fact they rather have movies on the old gridiron, ice-hockey, Basketball or even baseball in which there’s been plenty of those sports in movie history. So where does Gerard Butler fit into always this?

Confessions Of A Little League Coach is an idea of an baseball themed movie which is now to be re-imagined as a Youth football/soccer movie with Gerard Butler as the main lead. Firstl the Scottish actor was onboard purely as a producer but Im sure Butler is like me hasn’t got A scooby doo about baseball but football I think we can say yes as he is a big fan of the old game (Celtic FC fan like me).

The script of the movie has been scribed by So I Married A Axed Murderer writer Robbie Fox with Pursuit of Happyness Italian director Gabriele Muccino been interested on coming onboard the project though his scheduling may prevent him doing so so the may have to look elsewhere.

The plot is beleived to be centred around โ€œa troubled father trying to make up for lost time by coaching his sonโ€™s team โ€” but who finds himself in hot water after some of the local mothers take a little too much of a shine to him (and he to them).โ€ according to 24 Frames. The report also states that Sony where originally onboard this project though that may not be 100% confirmed but if finance was to be independantly they may still distribute it. Kevin Misher (Public Enemies) and Jonathan Mostow (the director of Surrogates) are producing alongside Butler under his Evil Twin banner.

Ever since USA hosted the world cupย  away back in 1994 the popularity of the sport has just grown and with high profile players like David Beckham and Thierry Henry playing in the MLS the fanbase is astronomical now stateside. It’s amazing to believe in 1994 over 3/4 of American population didnt even realise that the biggest sporting event in the world was in their neighbourhood but now the national team is regarded as one of the best teams in the world in the top 20 rankings, as well as regular attendees at the World Cup tournments and if the event was to be staged in the country again you will see a totall different but better amotsphere. Then again what’s a World Cup Im Scottish!!!
