This July Amazon Prime Video will release The Boys, a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, whilst their atrocities are swept under the carpet.
It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.
The series is based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. A show that’s been in the works for a very long time and thanks to Supernatural Showrunner Eric Kripke we have series!
Amazon have released a brand new Trailer for the series and sets the tone perfectly. It’s dark, anarchic, we see Billy Butcher recruiting. Using a Spice Girls song to highlight our heroes are better together to fight corruption. The promo even shows our ‘heroes’ even using a baby as a weapon! Need any more convincing? Supes have been committing atrocities, which keep getting swept under the rug because they are revered by the adoring public. Billy Butcher recruits The Boys who have all been wronged by The Seven, the world’s most notorious superheroes, to bring them down and stop the corruption. Based on the best-selling comics by Garth Ennis, The Boys is a revenge story where the nobodies take on the somebodies.
The Boys are Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), and The Female (Karen Fukuhara). Simon Pegg guest stars as Hughie’s father.
The Supes of The Seven are led by Homelander (Antony Starr) who is joined by Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).
The Boys, launching July 26 on Amazon Prime Video in 200 regions including the UK and Ireland. The series will be shown in Eight episodes.
