They Call Sandra Huller A Soldier In Trailer For Rose

We’re just over a week from the BFI London Film Festival and MUBI will release the beast in shape of Rose directed by Austrian filmmaker Markus Schleinzer. Ahead of it’s UK Premiere, MUBI have released the film’s official Trailer and they call her a soldier, her name is Sandra Huller.

As we said in the previous promo for this film, our leading actress is the star attraction. Whatever she stars in she shines with many of those films becoming critical success. With this award winning historical drama could be come a big awards winner with the film also Austria’s official entry for Best Foreign Language entry The Oscars.

Rose takes us into rural Germany amidst the country’s Thirty Years War. Huller plays a mysterious soldier who arrives in a secluded village declaring ‘himself’ heir of an abandoned farm whilst trying to gain acceptance.

This looks to bring a lot of the dark side of humanity to the surface and what looks another fine performance from our leading actress.

This also stars Caro Braun, Marisa Growaldt, Godehard Giese, plus Augustino Renken.

Synopsis | Amidst the turmoil of the Thirty Years’ War, somewhere in Germany, a mysterious soldier appears in a secluded protestant village. Small and quiet, his face disfigured by a scar, this stranger declares himself the heir of a long-abandoned farmstead and produces a document to support his claim
to the suspicious villagers. With time, he overcomes their doubts and shows himself to be a hard-
working, God-fearing man, becoming part of the community in a quest for acceptance made up of impossible deceit. The true and twisted tale of a deceiver of land and folk, who, defying her birth
as a woman, comported herself as a man and committed many a wicked deed.

The film will be released in the UK and Ireland from 5th February 2027. Before then, Rose will make it’s UK debut at BFI London Film Festival.
