The Wicked Die Young We Get The Neon Demon First Trailer!

The Neon Demon
She maybe ‘sweet and innocent’ girl but in The Neon Demon Elle Fanning will unveil her darker side as the wicked die young. Selected for ‘In Competition’ tonight we get a chance to enjoy the film’s first trailer

Do you know what her Mother used to call her? Dangerous, a dangerous girl and she’ll do anything to get to where she wants… the top.

Since day one The Neon Demon plot has been kept under wraps but what we’ve learned is Fanning plays an aspiring model Jesse who moves to Los Angeles. Her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.

After watching the trailer the plot still unclear, however you do get sense of a nightmarish but dreamy visuals. But sometimes that’s just Refn, knowing more of the narrative just spoils the film. If your looking vivid exploitation, head to toe arthouse Refn is your man, this looks artfully constructed. This is not a horror in the classical sense but one based on the horrors of modelling that has a horror twist inspired by Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed, a 16th century countess considered one of the most prolific female murderers who ever lived. Báthory is the one rumored to have bathed in the blood of virgins to maintain her appearance, how ironic as this film is based around youth and beauty. The one missing thing from the trailer is footage of Keanu Reeves as the talk is his character does play an important part of the whole film.

The Neon Demon is set for World Premiere at 2016 Cannes Film Festival next month, with USA release in June, UK release not set yet but expect it not long after. Jena Malone, Karl Glusman, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Desmond Harrington, Christina Hendricks.
