As the BAFTAs and the big one, The Oscars fast approach last night The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were held. It was a big night for the streaming Giants Netflix, as Aaron Sorkin‘s The Trial Of The Chicago 7 wins top honours.

The 27th SAG Awards took place last night (Sunday 4th April), a rather muted pre recorded 1 hours event. As mentioned night that turned out to be a big night for Netflix with The Crown, Ozark, The Queen’s Gambit and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom all winning for the channel.

Aaron Sorkin‘s 1960’s court room drama that saw democracy of America dragged through the mud. When unrelated political activists who were accused of inciting a riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

The award itself wasn’t exactly for ‘best picture’ but ‘best ensemble’, which some critics say should be the top honour in all awards.

The best actor in leading roles were both won by the leads in the same film with Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. With Daniel Kaluuya best actor in a supporting role with Judas And The Black Messiah with best Female actor in supporting role going to Youn Yuh-jung, Minari.

The SAG Awards may have been a tradition of the winners here usually go onto win at The Oscars?
