Loved by the people, loathed by the Royal hierarchy, to the conspiracy theorists she was a dream come true , now Princess Diana has her own biopic, watch UK trailer for Diana.

Naomi Watts has the task of Playing Diana, a film based around the last 2 years of the People’s Princess life before her suspicious tragic death in Paris 1997. The film is set to focus mainly on her affair with Dr Hansat Khan (played by Lost’s Naveen Andrews) who was seen as the true love of her life, 2 years of bliss for her romantically but also turmoil with press invading her every move.

Lasting 63 seconds the trailer is dialogue free and does very little teasing apart from start of the trailer which shows Diana as the darling of the people as well as press before we see her every move tracked. As for first impressions Diana comes across as TV movie made for the big screen, but as this is based on book by Kate Snell it’s hopeful director Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall) wont gloss over the facts and deliver something above the usual Biopic. It will be interesting to see what route they’ll take as well as the British Royal Family stance on the film too especially if it shows them in an negative manner. If Naomi Watts is going for the third Oscar she’ll certainly get  a chance to show them off in Diana and if she matches those like her wardrobe and hairstyle she’ll have a good chance of winning the trio gongs.

Synopsis

Celebrated and adored by millions, she was the Queen of people’s hearts, yet the bittersweet story of the last man to truly capture hers has never before been told. Princess Diana (double Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts), at one time the most famous woman in the world, inspired a nation with her generosity, compassion and kindness – and in her final years she would meet the man who, in turn, inspired her.

When Diana met Doctor Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews), she found someone who could see beyond the exterior, to the vulnerable and complex woman underneath. An incredible source of strength to her, it was during this relationship that Diana accomplished some of her most rewarding and successful humanitarian work. As Diana fell in love with Dr Khan, she didn’t just feel like a Princess – but like the woman she truly was.

In a story that until now has remained untold, DIANA introduces a time in the Princess’s life that was uniquely important in shaping her final years, fulfilling her search for true happiness and sealing her legacy. The film is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, stars Naomi Watts and Naveen Andrews and is produced by Ecosse Films.

Diana will be released in UK & Irish cinemas nationwide on September 20th 2013.
