The People We Hate At The Wedding Starring Kristen Bell Now In Production

Amazon Studios  have announced today that production has started on their upcoming Amazon Original film The People We Hate at the Wedding in London.

The comedy stars a cast led by Allison Janney, Kristen Bell, and Ben Platt. They will be joined by Cynthia Addai-Robinson , Karan Soni , Dustin Milligan, Tony Goldwyn , Isaach De Bankolé , Jorma Taccone , and Julian Ovenden .

The People We Hate at the Wedding follows struggling American siblings Alice (Bell) and Paul (Platt), who reluctantly agree to attend the wedding of their estranged, wealthy half-sister in the English countryside alongside their mother, Donna (Janney). Over the course of the wedding week, the family’s many skeletons are wrenched from the closet, and the unlikely reunion gives everyone the motivation to move their own lives forward. A modern wedding comedy for anyone with a slightly dysfunctional family (everyone), or anyone who’s been forced to attend a wedding they tried to avoid (also everyone).

The film will be directed by Claire Scanlon with FilmNation Entertainment producing romantic comedy from a script by Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Wendy Molyneux. The duo adapted from Grant Ginder’s novel of the same name. Ginder is the best-selling author of five novels – Honestly, We Meant Well, Driver’s Education, This is How it Starts, The People We Hate at the Wedding, and the forthcoming Let’s Not Do That Again. Margot Hand and FilmNation Entertainment’s Ashley Fox will produce the film.

As we all know weddings or any family gatherings might be joyous times they can also be nightmares. It’s the time you meet those distant relatives you only see every few years. They can be anything from unforgettable, cringeworthy and of course people you rather not meet or even hate, now you have a film dedicated to them!

The film continues a longstanding collaboration between FilmNation Entertainment and Amazon Studios whose past films include the Academy Award-nominated romantic comedy The Big Sick, the Sundance darling Late Night and The Map of Tiny Perfect Things.

The People We Hate At The Wedding  will debut exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide next year.
