The Meg 2

The Meg 2 or The Meg 2: The Trench  will soon be on our screens again with Jason Statham back as Jonas Taylor. Ben Wheatley  directing the sequel, things are expected to get even bigger , so they need more shark bait  and today we learned new cast members.

The Hollywood Reporter are reporting that Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil: Afterlife), Skyler Samuels (The Gifted) and Sergio Peris-Mencheta (Rambo: Last Blood) all joining the cast .

The report also mentions what role they will be playing “Peris-Mencheta is playing one of the film’s antagonists, a hard-edged mercenary. Guillory is the head of an applied sciences division, while Samuels is an adventure-loving member of Statham’s submarine crew.”

As for the actual details of the plot, they are still under wraps. We do expect Megalodon will enjoy another feeding frenzy with The Stath ready to kick ass.

Guillory will be no stranger to big things. Taking on hordes of zombies in The Resident Evil franchise, to more recently Clifford The Big Red Dog, Peris-Mencheta was also part of Resident Evil franchise too.

The 2018 film was an unexpected hit for Warner Bros. Whilst the film critical hit with all critics, the crazy bonkers tone of the film was a hit with cinephiles. You could say it’s one of those films that  some may call it “so bad, it’s so good”.

Some people were surprised that Ben Wheatley became the director. He is not a filmmaker known for big budget action thrillers. He’s more  films with style even arthouse at times, from the likes of The Kill List, Free Fire and High Rise.

The other returning cast members  are  Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai and Page Kennedy.

The Meg 2: The Trench is currently filming in the UK.
