The festive countdown is on and it’s no surprise that The Grinch (2018) is back on top of the Official Film Chart thanks to some strong digital download sales.

The animated version of Dr Seuss’ classic story How The Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, lifts four places to earn a fifth non-consecutive week at Number 1, and its first in 2024.

As a result, Gladiator drops one place to Number 2, finishing just ahead of this week’s biggest film of the week on physical formats, Deadpool & Wolverine at Number 3.

Sci-Fi thriller Alien: Romulus finishes at Number 4, ahead of technicolour musical classic The Wizard of Oz (5), which fans are revisiting following the release of Wicked in cinemas last week. It marks The Wizard of Oz’s first entrance into the Top 10 and only its third week ever inside the Official Film Chart Top 40.

Dreamworks’ latest, The Wild Robot, drops three places on last week (6), staying ahead of Dune: Part Two (7) and Despicable Me 4 (8).

Our second festive entry of the week comes from Elf, rising four places to Number 9 to earn it an eighth consecutive year featuring in the Top 10. To date, Elf has spent six non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the Official Film Chart.

Finally, Blake Lively drama It Ends With Us flies back up 17 places to land back at Number 10, its fifth total week in the Top 10.
