The Grinch Hangs Onto Official Film Chart No.1 For Third Week

No room at the top for cotton-headed ninny muggins as The Grinch (2018) makes it to a third week atop the Official Film Chart.
Despite close competition from festive favourite Elf, which climbs one place to Number 2, the animated edition of the Grinch story starring Benedict Cumberbatch holds tight at Number 1 with 80% of its sales this week coming from digital download copies.
Dr Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas is pushed to Number 3, landing just ahead of The Polar Express which jumps four places to a brand new peak at Number 4.
Climbing six to Number 5, The Last Duel enters the Top 10 for the first time. Starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver and Jody Comer, and based on the true story of France’s last trial by combat in the middle ages, knight Sir Jean De Carrouges (Damon) challenges squire Jacques Le Gris (Driver) to a duel after his wife Marguerite (Comer) accuses Le Gris of assault. The story is told across the different points of view of the three characters.
DC’s The Suicide Squad drops one place to Number 6, while Rise Of The Footsoldier: Origins enters the Top 10 for the first time at Number 7 and Paw Patrol: The Movie moves down one to 8. Arthur Christmas climbs to a new peak at Number 9.
Finally, Shang-Chi & The Legend Of The Ten Rings rounds off this week’s countdown at Number 10.
