The Banshees Of Inisherin lead The London Critics’ Circle Awards Nominations
Charlotte Wells’ powerful coming-of-age story Aftersun Second With 8 Nominations
Martin McDonagh‘s The Banshees Of Inisherin will be on our favourite films of 2022. The London Critics’ Circle may agree with us as they announce the nominations for their 43rd Annual Awards.
The nominations were announced in the luxury surroundings of The Mayfair in London. The dark tragicomedy The Banshees of Inisherin coming out on top with nine nominations. The film that stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson both men nominated for best and supporting actor.
Charlotte Wells’ powerful coming-of-age story Aftersun, leads the rest of the pack with eight nominations. The feature debut for Scottish filmmaker premiered when it opened this year’s Edinburgh Film Festival. Homegrown talent led the field as the UK’s leading film critics.
“As always, our nominees stand out from others because our members actually see all of the films that are released each year,” says Rich Cline, chair of the Critics’ Circle Film Section. “So these nominations represent a cross-section of the very best of the movies we watched in 2022. And each year it’s great that we can highlight films, filmmakers and performances that deserve attention.”
Other contenders all with 6 nominations are Everything Everywhere All at Once (A24), Tár (Universal) and
The Wonder (Netflix). The 43rd London Critics’ Circle Awards will take place at The May Fair hotel on 5th February 2023.
