Television Review – Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 2 Premiere
With the show returning for its second season I couldn’t help but feel they had a lot to live up to, after winning 2 Golden Globes and an Emmy for their first season, the second season would have to deliver, the premiere episode titled Undercover was all about Jakes return to the nine nine.
After last season left with Jake telling Amy how he felt there would be some issues to address, the main plot of the episode was about where Jake had been for the past 6 months, which was undercover in the mob which lead to a successful sting operation, but one mobster had got away so Jake enlisted the help of Charles to track down the missing mobster.
There were a couple of sub plots, one with Charles and Gina regarding a night Gina would rather forget, and then another involving the rest of the squad, which had Captain Holt constantly running his team through drills and scenarios.
Overall I think it was a really good episode, I felt like they were a little too generous with all of the wards, not that season 1 was bad but I didn’t want the show to become over hyped and then too big for itself which would offset the expectations of viewers, but this episode had it all Captain Holt being amazing as always as was Gina, if the rest of the episodes are of this quality I imagine they’ll be winning more awards this year.
