Susanne Bier In Talks To Director Practical Magic 2; Reuniting With Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman

Fans have been desperate to see the reunion of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman for a sequel to the cult classic Practical Magic and it seems their wishes are even closer to coming true.
Deadline is reporting that award-winning director Susanne Bier is in talks to helm the sequel to the 1997 film, which would see the helmer reunite with the stars are working with Bullock on Netflix’s Bird Box and with Kidman on the hit mini-series The Perfect Couple, also streaming on Netflix, and The Undoing, opposite Hugh Grant.
Oscar Winners Bullock and Kidman, also producing the film, are set to reprise their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens with the original film screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) returning to scribe the follow-up. In the first film, which was directed by After Hours star Griffin Dunne, two witch sisters, raised by their eccentric aunts in a small town, are faced with closed-minded prejudice and a curse that threatens to prevent them from finding lasting love. It grossed more than $47 million in the US but garnered a huge cult following on home formats ever since.
Kidman can currently be seen in Babygirl, still playing in cinemas, whilst Bullock was last seen in 2022’s The Lost City, alongside Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe; and Bullet Train, opposite Brad Pitt. Bier also helmed television series The Night Manager and The First Lady.
