Gregg Araki’s KABOOM has had its offical first trailer released today thanks to IFC Films via Apple in time for its American Debut at this month’s Sundance Festival. I didnt know much about this director until last summer after his alledged outburst of the criteria of people go to UK’s premiere horror/Sci-fi/fantasy festival Frightfest and pulled the movie from the festival and if everything said was true I think we can say the director has lost the faith of a some of the fanbase he would wantย  to watch his movie.

How to describe his movie is like a more sex starved comedic Donnie Darko crossed with Twin Peaks and aย  story of Smith (Dekker), an ambisexual 18-year-old college freshman who stumbles upon a monstrous conspiracy in a seemingly idyllic Southern California seaside town. and the movie has been getting quite a few movie reviews as been a weird, wacky, colourful movieย  and the trailer doesnt really show you the full picture of how sexual it is, but there will be alot of WTF! moments too!!!

The movie gets the Sundance & VOD treatments from January 21st before its limited cinematic American release from January 28th. Kaboom stars Thomas Dekker, Juno Temple, Haley Bennett, Chris Zylka, Roxane Mesquida, Andy Fischer-Price, James Duval and Kelly Lynch.

Indie veteran Gregg Araki returns to the spotlight with KABOOM, a hyper-stylized Twin Peaks for the Coachella Generation, featuring a gorgeous, super-hot young cast. The film is a wild, sex-drenched, comical thriller that tells the story of Smith, an ambisexual 18-year-old college freshman who stumbles upon a monstrous conspiracy in a seemingly idyllic Southern California seaside town. KABOOM will make its US premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is writer/director Araki’s eighth film there since his breakthrough The Living End, including The Doom Generation to his masterpiece Mysterious Skin. The film stars Thomas Dekker, Juno Temple, Haley Bennett, Chris Zylka, Roxane Mesquida, Andy Fischer-Price, James Duval and Kelly Lynch.
