Stephen and Robbie Amell‘s Indiegogo campaign for Code 8, a feature adaptation of their stunning sci-fi short (over 1m views) has raised a record-breaking $1,722,409 on crowdfunding site Indiegogo.

With over 20,000 backers raising the amount in just one month, Code 8 is not only the highest crowdfunded film of 2016 on any platform, but also a record-breaker for Canada where it more than quadrupled the record for highest funded film/video project. The film out-raised such noted campaigns as Spike Lee’s DA BLOOD OF JESUS as well as Wil Wheaton’s “TABLETOP” digital series.

The story of Code 8 follows a young man with special powers (Robbie Amell) struggling to find work as a day laborer. After a dispute over payment, he finds himself in a confrontation with a police officer (Sung Kang – FAST & FURIOUS franchise) and the autonomous robots backing him up.

Campaign donation perks ranged from a DVD of the completed film for $35, to all access to the full filmmaking process, as an Executive Producer for $50,000 — which sold a whopping three of those. One lucky backer also walked away with Stephen Amell’s ‘practice bow’ from his hit CW show, “ARROW.”
