Star Wars Episode VIII Officially Starts Production

The force was awoken last December delivering a welcome disturbance  at cinemas around the world bringing hope to fans worldwide, today Star Wars Episode VIII has now officially began production.After Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga.

The cameras are now rolling and Disney/Lucasfilm are delighted to share their excitement of the next chapter and have released this short video…

JJ Abrams (now executive producer) has now pass the reigns over to Rian Johnson and in this promo video you get a brief glimspe of the director in a behind the scenes view. The actual scene is the finale scene (spoiler alert for Episode 7 if you’ve still not seen the film)between Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Daisy Ridley (Rey), then we hear ‘cut’ by Johnson.

Also returning for Episode VIII are Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. The news also confirmed New cast members will include Benicio Del Toro who we believe will be the film’s main villain.Talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran,however one new name that wasn’t confirmed before is Laura Dern.

Star Wars Episode VIII is currently been filmed at Pinewood Studios London with Skellig Michael,Ireland and Dubrovnik, Croatia also locations for the film. Episode VIII still doesn’t have a official title yet nor has any plot been revealed yet. If we go by how episode VII promotion went we could see the first trailer launched later this year or this time next year.But let’s not forget the small matter of a spin-off film of Star Wars: Rogue One coming 16th December 2016 could there be a trailer coming in the coming months? Hopefully so!

Star Wars: Episode VIII is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.
