Space the final Frontier are you to boldly go back to where no one has gone before again? It may not our Telly boxes until January 2017 Â but last night a teaser for Star Trek TV Show was revealed along with the series logo. Check out the teaser…
At the CBS Upfront presentation at Carnegie Hall in New York on May 18, CBS unveiled the logo for the new Star Trek television series within the first-ever promotional video for the highly-anticipated program. As you can see there’s not much surprise on the logo, keep in the traditions of the TV series that have gone by but with a slight modern update.
The teaser doesn’t reveal anything just more of a promotion to remind us or let those who may have been on a long holiday on the Klingon home world Star Trek is coming back. What we did learn is that Hannibal/Pushing Dasies creator Bryan Fuller is onboard as the showrunner. He will be joined by the scribe for Star Trek/Star Trek Into Darkness Alex Kurtzman as executive producer with writing (possibly directing) duties coming from Star Trek II:Wrath Of Khan, Star Trek VI: Undiscovered Country director Nicholas Meyer onboard too.
“New villains. New crews. New heroes. New worlds.” is teased in the 50 second teaser with the official CBS statement saying “while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.”It’s all up in the air but it’s suggesting it won’t another version of the Enterprise nor will it be set in the same timeline as the upcoming rebooted film franchise. The gossip is it’s set before Jean-Luc Piccard’s generation which would fill the gap between Kirk and Piccard. What ship will they follow then? The talk is this might be anthology series following different ships.
No word on the cast yet but with production due to start in Toronto shortly we may just learn a little as we get closer to the January 2017 release date. There is no word on what network or how Star Trek will be aired in UK&Ireland just yet. In U.S the first episode will be aired on CBS before the series moves over to it’s new CBS Access All Areas PPV Channel.
