Spider-Man Brand New Day: Tom Holland Suffers Concussion On Set
Filming has been paused on the production of the upcoming Marvel release Spider-Man: Brand New Day after star Tom Holland suffered a mild concussion as a result of a stunt going wrong.
According to Deadline, who spoke to anonymous sources on set, the injury happened after a stunt didn’t go as planned, and filming was suspended on Friday as a result, so he could recover. It was initially reported that his stunt double was hurt, too, but this has now been reported as false. A meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow to adjust filming plans.
There has been a lot of excitement for the film amongst fans since footage began to leak of filming taking place in Glasgow earlier in the year. Last time we saw Holland’s webslinger was in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Peter Parker left in a world where no one remembers who he is, leaving fans wondering what will happen next in his story. Furthermore, we still have had no confirmation of Holland/Spider-Man’s involvement in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, with no “chair” as of yet for the actor.
The next film, Brand New Day, will be directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton. Producers of the previous films, Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, are returning to the franchise. The cast, which includes the likes of Zendaya reprising her role as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk/Bruce Banner and Jon Bernthal making his first crossover as The Punisher/Frank Castle in the film. Stranger Things’ star Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas are also joining the cast in undisclosed roles.
