Spellbound By First Trailer And Poster For Disney’s Maleficent

Is it the latest video for Lady Gaga’s new song I hear you ask? No! When you see that hat Angelina Jolie wears in her latest film you think so, but you’ll be spellbound when you watch the first trailer for Disney’s Maleficent.

In the era of re-imaging of stories gone by it’s no surprise this film has now been made, Maleficent is based on the classic Sleeping Beauty fable. This is the untold story on the stories iconic villain Maleficent and how the  young beautiful woman pure heart turns to stone when an invading army threatens to invade her forest kingdom. When she’s betrayed she become hellbent on revenge putting a curse on the invading kings daughter infant Aurora however as time passes that girl maybe the answer to the kingdom’s peace.

After relative success of Oz, The Great And Powerful it will be intriguing to see how Hollywood handles another iconic character, with Disney behind the film the potential of a great box office is a big possibility. Don’t expect the cheery bright sing-a-long animated version from 1959 but what we’ll get is something a lot darker.This is a direction their Marvel Entertainment wing has taken and the end result has seen them thrive, it’s nice to keep tradition but over time things need to change for the good. Look out Loki Maleficent has a helmet that may make you jealous!

Maleficent is set for a possible May 2014 UK release (tbc) and also stars Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne, Elle Fanning as teen Aurora along with Sharlto Copley, , Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, Lesley Manville 

Synopsis

“Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.
