Sibling Rivalries Fight In Mary Queen Of Scots First Trailer

Mary Queen Of Scots (2019)

At times we loathe them but most of the time we love them. Next January our fascination for the Royals will continue in Mary, Queen Of Scots.

Saoirse Ronan is our namesake character, the young charismatic Queen returning home to her rightful throne in her homeland of Scotland. Only to find her ‘sister'(cousin), Elizabeth 1st (Margot Robie) Queen of England also rules her homeland.

The film marks Josie Rourke‘s directorial feature debut and a film that has talk of Oscar glory. A bit early to say, however, we have two perfectly chosen actors in the main roles. Plenty of action, dialogue, and drama promise, not forgetting Margot Robbie unrecognizable in heavy makeup.

Universal Pictures has sent us the UK version of the first Trailer

Mary, Queen of Scots explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart. Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry. Instead, she returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of the compelling Elizabeth I. Each young Queen beholds her โ€œsisterโ€ in fear and fascination. Rivals in power and in love, and female regents in a masculine world, the two must decide how to play the game of marriage versus independence. Determined to rule as much more than a figurehead, Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabethโ€™s sovereignty. Betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies within each court imperil both thrones โ€“ and change the course of history.

The rest of the cast includes Jack Lowden, Joe Alwyn, Gemma Chan, Martin Compston, Ismael Cordova, Brendan Coyle, Ian Hart, Adrian Lester, James McArdle, with David Tennant, and Guy Pearce.

Mary, Queen Of Scots will be released in the UK and Ireland 18th January 2019 (7th December 2018, in the U.S).
