Shazzam! Doctor Strange Get's the Conan Writer's onboard

Yesterday I brought you the post telling you about the second tier Marvel superhero’s getting a chance to shine in 10 minute short films that would be shown in front of the ‘A-List’ superheros such as Thor, Captain America,Spiderman, well one of those names mentioned Doctor Strange is actually going to be lucky as he is getting a full length feature.

In one of the first movies to be struck under the new Marvel-Disney regime  have hired the writing talents of the upcoming Conan The Barbarian remake scribes Josh Openheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly.

Strange is one of the characters actually created by Stan Lee himself  with the pencil talents of Steve Ditko and the character started life as Steve Strange a highly successful New York Surgeon. Things go downhill when he falls on hard times and visits a spiritual healer in Himalaya’s who teaches Strange to tap into the old pyshic powers and down to his battle against the evil student of Baron Mordo  and with his mew mystical arts in power Strange goes into the big bad world taking on a array of bad dudes.

The road to getting Doctor Strange has been a stressful one with the idea been passed around studios from Sony, Dimension, Paramount. You can also say the same thing with the writers & directors its been one revolving door: Wes Crave, Guillermo Del Toro, Bob Gale, Steven Norrington are just few of names. Back in 2008 Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige did say he would like to see the Doc in a movie  according to Slashfilm

“I’d say in the next year, year and a half, as we start putting together our film slate for 2012 and 2013, I would not be shocked if we saw Dr. Strange on those lists.”

The takeover from Disney has come at the right time for the movie and it wont be the first time Doctor Strange has been on our screens as Peter Hooten played the doc in one of Marvels 1970’s live action tv movies/shows, its the same way The Hulk and Spiderman started. But Doctor Strange was one of the first live action projects and some people are surpirsed its taken so long for the idea to resurface as for when a movie will emerge possibly sometime 2012 if not 2013.
