Cannes Grand Prix Winner Sentimental Value Gets First Trailer
Neon has unveiled the first trailer for their Cannes Winner Sentimental Value, which you can watch below!
The family drama sees director Joachim Trier and Renate Reinsve reunited after their collaboration on 2021’s The Worst Person In The World. It wowed critics at the Cannes Film Festival this year, as well as winning that conveted award and recieving a 19-minute standing ovation.
The film stars Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Elle Fanning and tells the story of “sisters Nora (Reinsve) and Agnes (Lilleaas) reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic Gustav (Skarsgård), a once-renowned director who offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film. When Nora turns it down, she soon discovers he has given her part to an eager young Hollywood star (Fanning). Suddenly, the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father, and deal with an American star dropped right into the middle of their complex family dynamics.” (via Deadline).
Trier directed from his script written with frequent collaborator Eskil Vogt, with Maria Ekerhovd and Andrea Berensten Ottmar producing.
Sentimental Value opens in US limited release on November 7th. A UK release date is TBC.
