Saoirse Ronan Searches For Her ‘Son’ In Blitz First Trailer

A boy’s journey. A mother’s love. Miles of burning city between them. Apple TV+ have released first Trailer for Blitz starring Saoirse Ronan directed by Steve McQueen.

British filmmaker must have one of the diverse range of films in his back catalogue. From Republican activists (Hunger), tackling slavery (12 Years Of Slave), racism (Small Axe), heist movies (widows) to sex addiction (Shame). There is a lot of bases still to be covered, for his latest he’s coming home with life during world war II in Blitz.

The film also stars Elliott Heffernan who is 9 year old George, son of Rita (Ronan). She is wanting to send him to safety in the countryside outside London, George isn’t having it. Things happen splitting George from his mother leaving Rita searching for her boy around the rubble streets.

Saoirse Ronan might still be young, she established name, this looks like the platform to showcase Elliott Heffernan talents?

Sir Steve McQueen’s “Blitz” follows the epic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside. George, defiant and determined to return home to his mom and his grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an adventure, only to find himself in immense peril, while a distraught Rita searches for her missing son.

Blitz also stars Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Paul Weller, Stephen Graham, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Hayley Squires, Erin Kellyman, and Sally Messham. The film will make it’s world premiere at BFI London Film Festival when it opens the festival on 9th October. On 1st November  it will play in select UK and Irish cinemas before globally streaming on Apple TV+ from 22nd November.
