After much debate on who would get the coveted James Bond theme tune, British song writer Sam Smith‘s Writing On The Wall’ will be Spectre tune.Today the jury is out on the song as it’s released will it deliver? As an extra bonus we look at Spectre‘s latest vlog all about the stunts of the film.
The first question on everyone’s mind is Sam Smith‘s song James Bond standard? ‘Writing On The Wall‘ is a solid song unfortunately at the moment it’s one of the weaker films. It has the classic orchestral arrangements and setting up nicely for the expected ballads, however it still doesn’t grab you, like the lyrics. In defense of the song, we’re hearing this with no Spectre opening credits and hearing this song without them it’s hard to judge it correctly. Could it be Smith’s unique vocal style that’s not doing for hardcore fans? As a Sam Smith song it’s a good one but until credits are revealed it maybe best to leave our final judgement until then.
Here’s a short feature which Smith share’s his thoughts on the song…
Also this week the latest Spectre Vlog focusing on the action sequences in the film, the vlog features comments from director Sam Mendes, special effects supervisor Chris Corbould, 2nd unit director Alexander Witt, and first assistant director Michael Lerman.Sam Mendes called them “The tradition for Bond is always real stunts, real action, real explosions…” Chris Corbould added, “It’s going to be a real rollercoaster ride.” Spectre is doing it’s best to up the ante and prove whatever stunts seen in Skyfall are nothing compared to what you’ll see in the new film.
A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond (Daniel Craig) on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.
Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.
As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.
Spectre is set for release in the UK on October 26 2015, and in the US on November 6, 2015.
