Sam Neill Joining Godzilla X Kong Monsterverse Sequel
Sam Neill is no stranger to mingling with big creatures with Jurassic Park, is set to joining another Monsterverse. The New Zealander actor is set to join the Godzilla X Kong sequel cast for Legendary Pictures.
The Jurassic Park actor will be joining Jack O’Connell, Kaitlyn Dever (The Last Of Us) as the new cast. Apparently the cast will also include Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, and Alycia Debnam-Carey.
Dan Stevens played fan favourite Trapper Beasley in Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, reprising his role in the untitled sequel. There is no word yet if Rebecca Hall will be returning as Doctor Ilene Andrews.
Sometimes people ask why certain films get sequels/ prequels, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire in 2024 made nearly $600 million globally at the box office. Money talks and now work starts on making this sequel a reality with the cast announcements.
Godzilla is the legendary Japanese prehistoric Kaiju titan which made it’s cinematic debut with Gojira in 1954. Ever since endless TV shows, films enjoyed by fans worldwide and the version we see now is the Hollywood influenced version. In 2014 Legendary launched the current Monsterverse with Godzilla and the films that followed raking in $2.5 billion worldwide box office. Those films include Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). There was even a spin-off Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters which will have a second season soon.
This film will have a new director with Adam Wingard handing over the reigns to Grant Sputore (I Am Mother). The plot is still under wraps as in what role Sam Neill will play.
