Sacha Baron Cohen To Star in Tarantino’s Django Unchained?

“Ma Name is Borat I am in Mr Tarantino film…it nice!” Depending on how funny you think Sacha Baron Cohen is or isn’t might not be the question however 2012 is only less than 7 weeks away (early 2012 time this will shoot)and Quentin Tarantino is fair getting himself a tasty cast for Django Unchained and now it looks to have added Borat to the list. Variety are reporting the versatile British actor/comedian is joining cast in a small but important role of Scotty Harmony a gambler who buys Django’s wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) as an companion , the character’s screen time is minimal. QT was very particular on who he wanted to play the part of Scotty which is apparently written in the script as a shy overweight 24 year son of a rich daddy, a part many believed was offered to Jonah Hill who rejected the role plus you wouldn’t really call him ‘overweight’ these days.

Jamie Foxx will play Django a escaped slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter  Christoph Waltz who team up to save Django’s wife from evil plantation owner Leonardo Di Caprio. His right hand man Stephen  is Samuel Jackson with Kurt Russell as Ace Woody his henchman along with Laura Cayouette, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony LaPaglia playing Australian brothers. Tom Savini, M.C Gainey are the plantation owners who separate Django, Broomhilda with Don Johnson  as the slimy Spencer Bennett the rich plantation owner, slave pimp. It would n’t be a Tarantino film without a barrel load of cult/forgotten 1980’s stars and this one has plenty Gerald McRaney, Tom Wopat, James Russo and Dennis Christopher plus there’s a chance The Wire’s Michael K Williams and RZA might be involved in the film at some stage too. Not a bad line up?!

They always talk about everyone wants to be in a Woody Allen film but looking at that cast Quentin Tarantino always comes up trumps too and he may not make as many films as some directors however he always does it in style! Django Unchained is due to start filming in January in New Orleans area with the film set for a December 26th 2012 release! Sacha Baron Cohen can be next seen in Martin Scorsese’s Hugo December 2nd and next summer back to his Borat style characters in The Dictator
