Russo Brothers Share Update On Avengers: Doomsday And Secret Wars

Russo Brothers direct Avengers Doomsday

Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously helmed MCU projects such as Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, have provided a small update regarding their next Marvel movies Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

In July last year, it was revealed that the Russo Brothers would be returning to Marvel to direct the two new ensemble superhero movies. While talking to Deadline at the premiere of their upcoming Netflix movie The Electric State, they had some updates regarding the progress of the two Avengers projects.

Joe Russo clarified that, “it’s all in London, we’re shooting them fairly back-to-back, it’s a lot of work again, we may or may not survive, we’ll see, but we’re very excited about it. We found a way into the story that we think is gonna be challenging for audiences, it’s challenging for us to execute. And it’s really exciting for us, it gets us out of bed to do it.”

When asked about potential character appearances the brother remained vague and playful in their responses. “If you close your eyes and use your imagination, you can see anyone you want. Whoever tickles your fancy,” Anthony Russo said.

No details have been revealed about the two Avengers movies. All that is known is that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the MCU but this time to play Doctor Doom.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on May 1st, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is currently slated for May 7th, 2027.
