Russell Crowe Confirmed For Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH

It’s been common knowledge ever since the project was announced, but now Paramount Pictures/New Regency have now confirmed Australian actor Russell Crowe will be playing the titular role in Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic NOAH. This has been a bit of a passion project for the Black Swan Helmer and has had a new rumour about it nearly every second day about it, even last year we had some conceptional art but now it’s taking giant strides to becoming reality
Crowe will play Noah the famous ship builder whose given the divine order of building an ark, collecting the animals in pairs saving them from the impending catastrophic flood. It’s said the film will be a close adaptation of the story from the bible and this is where I have my concerns, whose bible? Many will say Christian one, but Christianity is a collective name of Western based religions majority follow similar bibles but some scriptures are slightly different interpretations. Though I love epic films but you create a film which is religious nature there will always be someone who’ll be offended.
Aronofsky has written a script which has been revised by Ari Handel plus Gladiator/Hugo writer John Logan with production set to start this July using New York and Iceland as it’s locations the latter also been a location for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. As for other Cast confirmations just Crowe’s part in the film has been confirmed, no word if last week’s rumours that Saorise Ronan or Jennifer Connolly are to join too. I may not be old enough to remember them first time around but when it comes to ‘epics’ I always look towards Ben Hur, Ten Commandments, Cleopatra as the templates to what I call ‘epic films’ So does Darren Aronofsky have what it takes to create a epic blockbuster like the a mentioned films or will it be another green screen over priced shambles? March 2014 is the date set for the release of Noah stay tuned with The Peoples Movies for updates.
