Next month Netflix will premiere season 2 of the critically acclaimed The Crown, today we get a look at the upcoming season’s new Trailer.
Whatever we think of the Royal Family, The Queen was one time a young woman and the new season the times are changing as we enter a new decade. Season 2 is set in the swinging 60’s post-war Britain, society is changing, it’s a cultural revolution. However, the nation is fighting an illegal war in Egypt and the third Prime Minister resigning through scandal. Can the Royals re-group as their pushed to breaking point? Can her Majesty modernise like her royal subjects? “I know who I am: A woman for the modern age,”
Beginning with soldiers in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces fighting an illegal war in Egypt, and ending with the downfall of her third Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan after a devastating scandal, the second season bears witness to the end of the age of deference, and ushers in the revolutionary era of the 1960s. The Crown continues to chronicle the major political and global events that have defined and shaped the second half of the twentieth century – a series that is unprecedented in its scale, ambition and creative vision.
Already the footage shows The Crown is setting itself up for another critically acclaimed season. They really do capture the period as a nation starts to free itself from the years of hardship after World War 2. The Monarchy seems to struggle and stuck in an aristocratical bubble. The new season also marks Claire Foy‘s last season as Elizabeth. Season 3 has already been confirmed with Olivia Coleman to take over the role, a very good choice!
The Crown will star Matt Smith as Phillip once again next to Matthew Goode, Vanessa Kirby, Jodi Balfour, Anton Lesser, and Michael C. Hall.Stephen Daldry once again directing a Peter Morgan script.
The second series will premiere on Netflix on December 8.
