Roland Emmerich's Stonewall Get's A 'Fighting' Gay Rights Trailer

The long road for equality for everyone is still a long way away from the end but it’s better than its been, In Rolland Emmerich‘s Stonewall, it’s where the pride began. From the director Better known for alien Invasions and conspiracy theories brings you a story inspired by Stonewall riots, young love watch first trailer.

With the recent changes to laws in USA for LGBT rights what better time to unleash the film’s trailer about the epochal event in the history in U.S Gay Rights movement.The relevance is ideal however it make you think hard that 45 years on, things are better but not completely free from abuse. This film might be on ambitious side for this director however when you look back compare him to a director renowned for CGI blockbusters (Michael Bay), Emmerich is capable of been different. Anonymous is a perfect example and Bay’s Pain And Gain visually strong but nothing more.

Stonewall is a fictional drama inspired by true events follows a young man caught up during the 1969 Stonewall Riots. Danny Winters (Jeremy Irvine) finds himself alone in Greenwich Village, homeless and destitute, until he befriends a group of street kids who introduce him to the local watering hole, The Stonewall Inn however, this shady, mafia-run club is far from a safe haven. As Danny and his friends experience discrimination, endure atrocities and are repeatedly harassed by the police, the entire community of young gays, lesbians and drag queens who populate Stonewall erupts in a storm of anger. With the toss of a single brick, a riot ensues and a crusade for equality is born.

Starring Jeremy Irvine, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ron Perlman, Caleb Landry Jones and Joey King.Stonewall doesn’t have a UK release date but will premiere at Toronto Film Festival next month then USA release on 25th September.
