He’s tackled Alien invasions, the end of the world, he’s even attempted to do Shakespeare. For Roland Emmerich‘s next film it’s World War Two epic, with Midway.
As ever the master of disasters’ films are big, sometimes destructive popcorn fodder. If you enjoy crazy things happening on the big screen Emmerich will give you nonsensical fun. Midway is based on a real life battle, The Battle Of Midway which took in June 1942. Six months after the Japanese invaded Pearl Harbour, how close to the real story will this stick to?

MIDWAY is the epic, real-life saga about an undermanned American fleet and the brave Navy leaders and pilots who triumphed, against the odds, over a powerful adversary. With democracy and freedom at stake, these U.S. brothers-in-arms conquered the Imperial Japanese Navy at the Battle of Midway, a most stunning clash by air and sea which marked a heroic feat of naval warfare and pivoted the Allies toward victory in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
Like his films, this has a massive cast which includes Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Aaron Eckhart. Next to Nick Jonas, Etsushi Toyokawa, Tadanobu Asano, Luke Kleintank, Jun Kunimura, Darren Criss. Finally Keean Johnson, Alexander Ludwig, with Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid and Woody Harrelson.
Midway will be released in the UK, Ireland and the USA from 8th November.
