Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ‘Awakens’ With Celebration Reel

Director Krennic in Rogue One

There has been awakening, ย and that awakening ย has an origin. Last Christmas Episode 7 aka Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens was a welcoming return to the franchise. This Christmas Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will fill the gap when we wait for episode 8 and tonight we get another look at the upcoming spin-off

Entitled ‘Celebration Reel‘,the new behind the scenes featurette was premiered at Star Wars Celebration Europe currently taking place in London over the next few days. We do get the War movie tone when we watch this 3 minute promo which was revealed during a panel. There’s plenty of new footage on show here especially of a new planet to the franchise, the planet of Scarif which looks tropical and below the new poster also supports that notion (as well as the war story with Death Star like a moon/sun to the planet).

The cinematography looks very gritty in nature which is taking us away from the usual affair we expect from the Star Wars world. Feeling a little more personal which is nice as it’s bringing diversity to the franchise, handheld, even the action feels different. It also seems that the long awaited full trailer (watch teaser here) was shown exclusively to the eyes of the panel’s audience. There is ‘ambience’ that really excited the audience was the sound of heavy breathing and a glimpse of that character’s shadow…Darth Vader!!! American reports are saying the new trailer will play in front of Pete’s Dragon but what film in UK&Ireland we don’t know yet. But as ever we’ll post it here when Disney send us that elusive trailer.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first film in the new standalone movies from Lucasfilm. It tells the story of how a group of unlikely heroes unite to undertake a daring and seemingly impossible mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to arrive in cinemas in UK, Ireland and USA on 16th December. Also starring Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed and Chinese superstars Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen.
