From Hobbits of Middle Earth to At The Mountains of Madness Guillermo Del Toro finally has something he can direct and when he direct’s it big but for PACIFIC RIM it’s Epic! Late Last night Warner Bros have released the film’s official synopsis and back in easter the director promised โ€œthe finest fucking monsters ever committed to screenโ€ and looking at the synopsis he’s keeping to his word! Still a lot is still not revealed but what this plot does is join up some lines crosses a few T’s. Our world is been invaded by giant intergalactic monsters called Kaiji  so to combat ourselves against the invasion we fight them in human manned giant robots! Is it me but does this sound like something straight Japanese Anime like Evagellion or even Godzilla film? Do we like what we’re hearing hell yeah!!!

The plot is similar to what was rumoured to be the plot which  was leaked online a few months back so this confirms everything, so what do you think? With filming already started over 6 months ago if you are lucky and nabbed yourself a pass for Comic Con San Diego don’t be surprised if you see the films first footage but for the rest of us July 12, 2013 is going to be the day of the monster when Pacific Rim arrives!

From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Picturesโ€™ and Legendary Picturesโ€™ epic sci-fi action adventure โ€œPacific Rim.โ€

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanityโ€™s resources for years on end.  To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge.  But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.  On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroesโ€”a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)โ€”who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past.  Together, they stand as mankindโ€™s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Oscarยฎ nominee Guillermo del Toro (โ€œPanโ€™s Labyrinthโ€) is directing โ€œPacific Rimโ€ from a script by Travis Beacham (โ€œClash of the Titansโ€).  Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent are producing, with Callum Greene serving as executive producer.

The film stars Charlie Hunnam (TVโ€™s โ€œSons of Anarchyโ€), Idris Elba (โ€œThorโ€), Rinko Kikuchi (โ€œThe Brothers Bloomโ€), Charlie Day (โ€œHorrible Bossesโ€), and Ron Perlman (the โ€œHellboyโ€ films).  The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke.

Del Toroโ€™s behind-the-scenes team includes Academy Awardยฎ-winning director of photography Guillermo Navarro, production designer Andrew Neskoromny, editor Peter Amundson, and costume designer Kate Hawley.

Slated for release in Summer 2013, โ€œPacific Rimโ€ is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.  The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

We may not be the biggest fans of 3D films strangely this hasn’t been confirmed as a 3D film yet but reading the above synopsis this would be one flick I would expect to be 3D! One thing Del Toro is an master at, is creating terrifying monsters that will be original in design so creating creatures larger than he’s done before will be a challenge but one we have full confidence he will provide with devastating effect.Been a fan of anime I’m curious to see the robots or Meccha design he will go for, I wouldn’t at all be surprised there will be a big Japanese influence on the design, roll on July 2013!

Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman.
