Robert Pattinson Shares Update On The Batman Part II; Set To Shoot Later This Year
Doing the rounds across the world at the moment in the lead-up to the release of Mickey 17, Robert Pattinson has been quizzed on both that film and the anticipated sequel to 2022’s The Batman, which is nearing its production start date.
Speaking to ExtraTV,ย Pattinson shared some new information about the follow-up, saying, โMatt [Reeves] is a very careful writer, but I finally know what itโs about.โ He added, โItโs very cool, and Iโm very excited.โ In another interview with Deadline, Pattinson statedย that the movie will start filming at โthe end of the year.โ
With James Gunn’s Superman set for release this Summer, it’s expected that Reeves’ follow-up with release in 2027 with a two-year gap between the films featuring DC’s biggest heroes, although both are thought to be of different universes in the new DC set-up. No word yet on who will co-star with Pattinson, though Andy Serkis as Alfred will return, with rumours that Colin Farrell will also reappear as Oz and Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone from The Penguin spin-off show also potentially appearing.
As with any superhero films, fans already have their dream scenarios, ranging from a new version of Mr. Freeze to the Court of Owls making their first big-screen appearance, as well as a larger role for Barry Keoghan’s Joker, who appeared briefly in the theatrical version of the film.
Released in 2022, The Batman featured Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone – although he has since been replaced in flashbacks by Mark Strong – and grossed over $772million and was the first ever R-rated Caped Crusader film.
The Batman Part II is set for release in 2027.
