Robert Pattinson Set For Dune 3?
Deadline is reporting some exciting news from the world of Dune, with none other than The Batman himself being linked with joining the ensemble for the third film.
Robert Pattinson, he of The Batman stardom, is being eyed to play the big bad for the third film which will see director Denis Villeneuve return behind the camera. The filmmaker is currently finishing the script and final touches to pre-production before its rumoured shoot this summer. Deadline sources say that while no deal is yet done for Pattinson, there is strong interest in the actor to join the sequel – and it seems the role of the villainous Scytale is the role they want him to fill.
The star would join the already confirmed returns of Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa, although the latter isn’t official yet, with many others from the cast set to return as well. Anya Taylor-Joy, who briefly appeared in Dune: Part Two, is also set for a larger role this time, as well as a handful of new roles to cast.
The series, based on Frank Herbert’s legendary series, so far has been a huge success: 2021’s Dune: Part One and last year’s Dune: Part Two earned a combined $1.12 billion at the global box office and won eight Oscars from 15 nominations, including Best Picture nominations for both. A prequel TV series, Dune: Prophecy, premiered on HBO and Max in November to critical acclaim and set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides.
Robert Pattinson was last seen in Bong-Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 and will soon be seen in Lynne Ramsey’s Die, My Love with Jennifer Lawrence and A24’s The Drama with Zendaya. He is currently filming The Odyssey, which sees him re-team with Christopher Nolan, and will don the cape and cowl again in The Batman II for director Matt Reeves sometime later this year before its 2027 release.
