Witches are real, and they are everywhere! In December they will be in your home as Warner Bros. announce that Robert Zemeckis’s reimagined Roald Dahl’s The Witches will be available to download and keep on digital Blu-Ray™ and DVD , arriving just in time for Christmas.
The original film Anjelica Huston played the head of the diabolical withes. The golden broom now lies with Anne Hathaway. The cast also Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, with Kristin Chenoweth and Chris Rock. Newcomer Jahzir Kadeem Bruno also stars, alongside Codie-Lei Eastick.
The 21st century update moves from the UK to the USA, however the actual story is the same. a tale of a young imaginative seven year old boy who goes lives with his grandmother. When they go to the seaside they arrive at their hotel when the grand high witch gathers her fellow cronies as they devise a nefarious plan.
Reimagining the beloved Roald Dahl story for a modern audience, Robert Zemeckis’s visually innovative film tells the darkly humorous and heartwarming tale of a young orphaned boy who, in late 1967, goes to live with his loving Grandma in the rural Alabama town of Demopolis. As the boy and his grandmother encounter some deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches, she wisely whisks our young hero away to an opulent seaside resort. Regrettably, they arrive at precisely the same time that the world’s Grand High Witch has gathered her fellow witches from around the globe—undercover—to carry out her nefarious plans.
