Sword Art Online 2.3 ★★★★
Synopsis
Sword Art Online; Rumors fly as Legendary Excalibur is discovered in ALO
The story arc follows Kirito and Asuna, along with some old friends go out in search for the sword before anyone else can get it.
Review
Not as gripping as Sword Art Online Other Arcs.
It seemed to me to lack an urgency to the story, unlike in other arcs.
So all in all, not the best that Sword Art Online has to offer in terms of plot.
Awarding of the Stars
Stars awarded for:
Story, Characters, Fighting, Animation, and Extras
Animation
The animation is the same we’ve come to know and love.
The studio behind it was A-1 so no real change in Animation.
Still a good style for what Sword Art Online is; A full star.
Story
The story, as I’ve said in my short review could have been better.
There wasn’t much to put us on our seats. As much as I enjoy Sword Art, the Excalibur Arc was not one of my favorites, felt like filler to me. However at the very end, it does beg the question as to what is next, something that makes it all seem worthwhile. A half mark.
Characters
Character development was great, and it seemed to focus on not only Kirito but the other also.
Not just past experiences but the toll that the experiences have taken on each of the characters seems to show more in this Arc than others. So in all a full mark for characters and their development.
Fighting
This is an Action anime after all. Even though the action wasn’t as dire as in previous arcs, it was still visually appealing. It was basically the thing holding it all together, and making me want to watch more; more fights. It was entirely entertaining, a full star.
Extras
There weren’t many extras on the disc, Opening and closing themes textless.
A half star at best.
Totting up the marks, is 4 stars.
