2 weeks time will be Christmas Day, one week later it will be 2016, so it’s that time of the year we reflect what was good, what was bad in the year of cinema. These coming weeks we will see an influx of really awesome supercut videos like this one Cinefile 2015 from Miguel Branco who has created 8 minute video which showcases 200 films.
Our hats go off to these video editors who go to great lengths to remind us what our year was like and any true cinephile will tell you, no 2 years are the same.No year has been perfect, but some have been alot better than other but what year we like to leave that to you, as well love different genres, actors and filmmakers.Personally this has been a strong year but wasn’t always the so called ‘safe’ blockbusters that provided the best outcomes, there was some unexpected hits. We can see Me, Earl And The Dying Girl is certainly one of Miguel’s favourite films, we can’t argue with that as it’s on my 2015 top film list too.
When you watch this video mashup there will be a few films not just out yet including a certain film from a galaxy far far away . The Revenant is another exciting film to look forward to especially now the early reviews are nothing but positive for the films.
Check out Cinefile 2015 below see what you think, below that is Miguel’s own statement on his video. A big thank you to Miguel Branco for sending us the video mashup, he’s only 21 and has been doing this for several years now and he has a lot to offer in the near future too! The Peoples Movies & Cinehouse UK writers will be delivering their best/worst 2015, plus much more in the last weeks of 2016.
What a wonderful year it’s been. Calling 2015 a successful year in motion pictures would be an incredibly vast understatement. To a large degree, our theater experiences were raised to towering new heights, our heartstrings were pulled, and our emotions were manipulated in the most beautiful ways possible. If that’s not pure cinema, I don’t know what is.
It’s funny – this is my third year doing one of these, and each time has become increasingly more difficult than the last. Although the editing process for this year’s project has been nothing short of a tremendous joy, it’s also been an emotionally draining one. 2015’s grand cinematic scope really inspired me to take bolder and more daring risks, stay true to myself, and most importantly, make something greater than what I initially set out to create.
Cinefile 2015 owes a lot to the loved ones, friends, films, albums, and trailers that inspired it. Trying to come up with the right way to show that gratitude and wide range of emotion was extremely difficult. Or, as the opening line from favorite film of the year goes, “I have no idea how to tell this story. I don’t even know how to start it.”
