Release Dates Changed Again Including For No Time To Die!

The dominos  are falling once again as No Time To Die and a host of films have delayed their release dates. Are we surprised?  No. With no end in sight to this horrible Covid-19 even with the slow moving vaccine, the April release date was looking more and more in doubt.

The November 2020 to April 2021 it frustrated cinephiles worldwide, we all had a brighter outlook for 2021. 3 weeks into 2021, things are still looking very grim which pushed Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures to take drastic measures.

James Bond 25 looks set to be released on 8th October 2021, nearly 2 years after the films originally set release date. It’s the first major film of 2021 to change it’s release date this year and a reminder no one is safe neither is any rescheduled dates. The 2nd April release date slot now goes to Bob Odenkirk‘s action thriller Nobody . Edgar Wright‘s psychological horror film, Last Night In Soho which was due for release on 23rd April, now has an 22nd October release date. The live action musical version of Cinderella moving from February to a 16th July release date. Meanwhile Peter Rabbit 2 is moving to 11th June with Ghostbusters: Afterlife now arriving 11th November.

The other big schedule change is Morbius starring Jared Leto. With the changes to likes of No Time To Die, it would have been face to face with Bond, Sony Pictures now pushed the film to 21st January 2022.  Sadly  those waiting for the Uncharted film will have to wait until 2022 when it’s now arriving on 11th  February 2022. Michael Bay‘s Ambulance starring Jake Gyllenhaal is set for 18th February 2022 release.

With the uncertainty on exactly when we can return to our local cinemas, we totally understand these changes to release dates. Even with the vaccine now underway, film studios will still be on the and must live with the possibility dates could change again. It’s only so long we can changes these before we start affecting those films set originally for 2022, even 2023 releases. Could some of these head to Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? The Playlist reported today that Netflix and Apple TV+ have tried to win the rights to stream Top Gun Maverick. Don’t be surprised if some do go.
