Read Between The Lines In The Good Liar Trailer

It’s hard to believe Helen Mirren and Ian McKellan have never starred together in the same film. Both with illustrious careers you would think their paths would cross at one point, until now. The pair now star in Bill Condon‘s The Good Liar, a story about the secrets we keep and the lives we live.

Warner Bros have released the UK Trailer which has McKellan  as Roy an ageing con man attempting to con widower Betty (Mirren).However what starts as a con job may turn into something else.

It’s a rare occasion to see Gandalf in a lead role and another film with Condon which are usually solid dramas. It feels there’s more to meets the eye in this one,we expect more twists!

The New Line Cinema drama “The Good Liar” pairs Oscar winner Helen Mirren (“The Queen”) and two-time Oscar nominee Ian McKellen (“Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” “Gods and Monsters”) on the big screen for the first time.

Bill Condon, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “Gods and Monsters,” directed and produced the film from a screenplay by Jeffrey Hatcher (“Mr. Holmes”), based on the widely acclaimed novel by Nicholas Searle.

Career con artist Roy Courtnay (McKellen) can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Mirren) online. As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.

“The Good Liar” also stars Russell Tovey (TV’s “Quantico”) and Jim Carter (TV’s “Downton Abbey”)

“The Good Liar” was filmed on location in London and Berlin.

New Line Cinema presents, in association with BRON Creative, a 1000 Eyes Production, a Bill Condon Film, “The Good Liar.” The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film also stars Russell Tovey and Jim Carter. The Good Liar will be released nationwide on 8 November 2019  (and the USA 15th November) by Warner Bros. Pictures.
