We are mere weeks away from the opening of Marvel’s hugely anticipated The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the team’s first official MCU arrival, and many of the cast have begun talking about it, including big bad Ralph Ineson, who plays Galactus.
Chatting to Empire, Ineson has been talking about the latest big villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and discussed his unique preparations for the role, and how he went about becoming a ginormous God like entity.
First, inspiration came from a visit to Mont Blanc in the Alps and driving underneath them, saying he was “just imagining that as his windpipe and his trachea.”
“I also went to a lot of tall buildings. We went to a wedding at the top of the Gherkin building in London, and I spent most of the afternoon just staring out, ruminating. I got in trouble with my wife — she was like, ‘You’ve got to say hello to the bride and groom at some point!’”
Galactus is a planet devourer, but Ineson suggests that he isn’t quite the bad guy everyone assumes, adding: “I don’t think Galactus is evil.”
The new version of the characters stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The film also includes Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer. Additionally, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne have been cast in undisclosed roles.
Pascal, Kirby, Quinn, and Moss-Bachrach will reprise their roles in Avengers: Doomsday, set for release in Christmas 2026.
