Rachel Zegler Set To Play Snow White In Disney Live Action Version?
She may be about to be Maria in Steven Spielberg‘s West Side Story, Rachel Zegler is about to be the fairest maiden of them all. Deadline are reporting the young actress is about to play Snow White in live action version of Disney‘s classic animated fairytale.
A good chunk of the last decade, Disney have been flying through their extensive library of animated features adapting into live action versions. Snow White is a seminal film or by it’s full title Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. It’d based on the Brothers Grimm 1812 fairytale, which was released in 1937 and it was Disney’s first animated feature film.
This new version will be directed by Marc Webb (500 Days Of Summer, The Amazing Spiderman) with Marc Platt set to produce with production set to start in 2022. Off course this is a film that has some classic tunes , the new version will have Oscar winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman) onboard to deliver new catchy songs. Every film or musical they have worked has been like gold , such as Dear Evan Hansen which is set for a movie version in October.

Some reports say Disney have been working on a live action Snow White since 2016. Zegler has been impressing the powers to be at Disney in her audition for Maria in West Side Story, defeating 30,000 other actress for the role . Like Halle Berry’s role as Ariel in the Little Mermaid , Zegler’s casting is another sign of Disney diversifying whom they are picking in these roles usually played by white actresses . Zegler will also soon star aside Zachary Levi in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods.
West Side Story is set for release on 10th December.
