Put On A Happy Face For First Look Joker Poster
It’s that old chesnut, and Warner Bros Pictures today tease us with a First Look Poster for Joker. The Todd Phillips origins story for Batman’s iconic villain The Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix.
The Poster follows the traditional trend of releasing the poster on the eve of the film’s Trailer. Warner Bros. have revealed tomorrow, Wednesday 4th April that first Trailer will arrive.
Joker centre around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
We still don’t know much about the film or even the tone it may lean towards. Though what we do know it will lean towards Taxi Driver, King Of Comedy in a 1980’s setting. Ironically the lead star of those iconic films Robert DeNiro is in this one!
I do hope they go for a more human story, making Arthur a grounded but yet troubled character. Sliding away from the born superhuman line most comic book films go for. Looking possibly as a comic book film for non comic book fans, with a more dramatic tone. Could we be looking at DC’s answer to Logan?
The film also stars Robert DeNiro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Brett Cullen, Douglas Hodge and Josh Pais.
Joker will be released in the UK and Ireland from 4th October.
